Jan and Maria Vislocky from MJV Travel in New Jersey won a 5 day trip to Hamburg in December 2015 and this is what their adventure was like:

"We're happy to share our wonderful experience in Hamburg. Our flight with Air Berlin was excellent with very nice and friendly service. In our hotel we were welcomed by a representative from the Hamburg tourist board, who gave us brief, but very helpful information about our stay. Our hotel Mercure Hamburg Mitte was located very close to a subway, so with the Hamburg Card it was very convenient for us to reach any place.

HafenCity and Speicherstadt

To be more familiar with Hamburg we took a Hop-On, Hop-Off Sightseeing tour and visited most attractive places. After that we met our tour guide who took us for a walking tour through the HafenCity. It is a wonderful combination of old and new buildings, a lovely area along the water with many bridges, galleries, parks, museums, etc.

Our next stop was Ballin Stadt Emigration Museum, where we discovered the history of emigration in Hamburg. It was lovely to listen to the audio tour of various immigrants and their stories.

To be in Hamburg we did not want to miss the Reeperbahn - best nightlife district and a great mix of people, blend of adults' clubs, sports bars and souvenirs shops.

We went shopping in the Europapassage and Neuer Wall, visited St. Michael Church, stopped for lunch in local restaurants and enjoyed a delighted dinner in the Coast by East restaurant.

But the true highlight of the trip was visiting the various Christmas markets. We most liked Jungfernstieg with its romantic tent decoration and the biggest Christmas market in town in front of the Rathaus - especially beautiful on Saturday, when there is a parade through the streets and Santa flies in his sleigh across the market in the sky to deliver Christmas messages.

Thank you very much to give us the opportunity to visit Hamburg. It was a great experience. We really enjoyed our trip to Hamburg and we are planning to come back in summer time."
